Mission Statement

What Is WGIA?
WGIA is the acronym for West Georgia Inspectors Association.  WGIA was started in 1990 by a group of local code officials because they saw a need for uniform interpretation and enforcement of construction codes.

WGIA has grown over the ensuing years, providing an open forum for code officials, architects, engineers, builders, contractors, manufacturers and other interested parties in West Georgia and East Alabama to discuss concerns and exchange information.  In addition to providing quality education in all facets of the construction industry, WGIA has provided a platform that has helped many of its members jump ahead of the competition in their professional lives.

WGIA has strong ties with the Building Officials Association of Georgia (BOAG), International Code Council (ICC) Region 8 (consisting of members from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) and  ICC itself.  WGIA members are currently serving in positions for all of these organizations.

What Can WGIA Do For Me?
WGIA keeps a close relationship with other state, regional and national professional code and construction organizations, including ICC, ICC Region 8, Georgia DCA, Georgia Home Builders Association and local inspector associations all across Georgia.  WGIA maintains an active role with all of these organizations so they can bring any and all items of local interest to its members and make sure their voice is heard on the state, regional and national levels.  Your participation DOES count!

Our Purpose
WGIA promotes health, safety and welfare to life and property through education and training of those involved in construction codes and related laws. Our association promotes uniform interpretations and enforcement of construction codes through the exchanging of ideas and sharing of experiences. We promote professionalism through the development of a code of ethics. We also promote the purpose objectives of the Building Officials Association of Georgia (BOAG) and International Code Council (ICC).

How Can I Become Involved With WGIA?
Fill out the application, send it in TODAY and participate in the magic!  We want, and need, new voices to participate with us on our journey into the future for the construction industry.
